1st vs Abbotsbury Jul 7th

So another thursday rolls around and the 1sts step up to the plate to stop the rot of 5 games without a win!
Skipper wins the toss and inserts us in with JB and Smithy opening. Good bowling and a stern defence kept us to only 12 in 4 overs, JB opened his shoulders on the following 4 overs and smashed 33 with Smithy going stead down the other end. JB finally getting caught rather superbly for 35 from 21balls, Andy Coz came in faced 2 balls and holed out for 0 (he's now got a pair you know!). Wickets fell as Smithy went for 24  and  Linghams breezy 13, Zim and Weasly run out, Mark gets 6, Kim gets a duck Timmy 5 as sid an adcock both score 1 a piece as we finish on a low but defendable 101-9

We opened up steady with Kim 'angry man' Park an the skipper opening the bowling with Kim keeping the batsman pinned back. After 2 overs I made the quite brilliant tactical decision to bring Timmy Mallet on and with a wicket in his 1st over it was looking good. Kim bowled out and took 2 wickets in his last 2 overs  getting the opener and Abbotsburys mr cricket out conceding just 22 runs. Mike 'the cat' Linghams good work in the field resulted in a run-out. So after 13 overs abbotsbury were 59-4 with the match in the balance, what happend next was a crazy over but brilliant display of bowling by Tim bowling 2 with his 1st 2 balls just missing out on a second hat-trick this year, a great bit of glove work by our ginger prince ment a stumping off of a leg wide, next ball just missed the out side edge bowled the next bat, and on his final ball trapped the EX-mayor of Dorchester lbw to leave abbotsbury 60-9.  JB took the last wicket with Tim taking the catch all out for 61.
A great win for Charlton Down by 40 runs with Tim's figures 6-10 the 3rd best in club history and probably the performance of the season for the whole of evening league this year!

Roll on tuesday away to plush!
