Role: Match day responsibilities

Responsible to: Club members

There are a lot of jobs that need to happen in order for our home games to take place so to distribute these jobs in the fairest manner from the start of the 2010 season we will be allocating roles to each player selected and rotating the roles each week.

Rota:

A. Tea preparation and Cleanup (x2) – Switch on hot water heater and set up and clear away all the mess created during the tea interval. This includes wiping the tables and putting away, washing dirty crockery and putting away and putting any unused food in the bin and emptying at end of day. Then switch hot water off.

B. Arrange mid innings drinks and prepare pots of tea (x2). Prepare and serve drinks at the 20 over mark. Set out pots of tea and fill and switch on Urn. Set out the mugs, milk and sugar ready for the tea interval.

C. Organise Scoring and Umpire Rotation (x2). Make sure that umpires and / or scorers are offered rotation every 15 overs maximum and ensure umpires that are soon into bat are relieved so they can get padded up.

D. Boundary rope, scoreboard, pitch sponsor sign (putting it out and away again) (x2). Make sure the boundary rope is correctly positioned and the scoreboard and club sponsorship banner are erected before the game begins. To set up stumps, re-mark pitch and bowling limit if necessary, sweep and roll pitch. Put scoreboard, stumps and sponsor signs away at the end of the game.

E. Collect Match Fees (x1). Collect all the match fees and record those who haven’t paid. Pass on the money to the match captain.

F. Bar set-up and stocking (x1). Make sure bar is set-up, coolers switched on, Optics set out, fridges are stocked and glasses are clean.

G. Delegation, procrastination and everything else (x1). Make sure everyone else does their allocated job! And to make sure pavilion lights are off and it is secure, clean & tidy. This will typically be the captain’s role.

Note that all players will still be required to do their share of umpiring and/or scoring. (If Club umpires are not available)

Job allocations will be announced alongside the team selections and players will also be reminded of their duties at the beginning of each game. I hope the club can count on your support as it is the clubs members which have allowed the club to progress and it will be your hard work which will continue our success.
