Colliton v Charlton Down at Dorchester Rec

Monday 16th July 2006

RAIN STOPS PLAY AND THWARTS A FANTASTIC SHOW BY CHARLTON DOWN

The top of the league team (yes it was CDCC) strolled onto the pitch with much enthusiasm on Monday night to play a great game on what seemed like a perfect evening for a jolly game of cricket.

Skipper Andy Cossons and his opening partner Andy Smith stroked the ball to a plethora of runs amounting to an outstanding  partnership score of 161. Andy C  played like a colossus and reached his century and was finally out for 110. James Mitchell hit a six in his respectable 21 not out and partnered by Greg Sohawon tidied up the innings to 188.

Richard Fagence & Mark Homewood took a wicket each before the weather had an impact ! Over the ridge came a massive rain cloud that deposited it's load on Dorchester rec , wrecking what seemed to be a glorious game! The match was then abandoned but the significant display by the captain in particular scoring such a big score in a 20 over match was a fantastic achievement .

An unfortunate end to what may have been a thumping victory.
