LEAGUE CUP AWAY TO PLUSH

Well Mike Lingham’s naked rain dance had results of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice proportions. It didn’t stop for days, and after a number of cancellations, we finally managed to get in our cup fixture against Plush, who are in a higher division.

This was to be a considerable test of the depth of CDCC’s player resources, as 8 regulars were unavailable; so desperate were we that Richard Mann made 12th man.

So on a pitch that resembled plasticine, Plush elected to bat first, and CDCC restricted them to 81 off the allotted 15 overs, with an excellent spell from Rich Fagence of 1-23 off 6 overs. Chris Coates- Dale then chipping in with 3 wickets at the end.

Steady batting from Mark Homewood (31) (despite him running out Mike when he looked set (1stball!)), saw us home with 8 balls to spare.

Polite note to scorers. Mike having completed a full run, therefore wasn’t out for a duck!

So to the last 16 with a home tie against Puddletown Rugby Club, to pit our talents against Mr Boltwood (Tom the Echo).

Next game against those chirpy Colliton chaps on Thursday evening.

See you at the Pav!!!
