Friendly VERSUS CERNE (Home)
As it was my first outing as captain this season I decided to lose the toss and make us field in the blistering heat!
So from the start we were on the right foot! Good old steady Rich Fagence opened at one end and kept the scoring down for his part! But after a nice spell on full tosses and short balls by my self and Zarak we were soon on the back foot as their opening batsmen put on over 150 for the first wicket.
That all changed when I brought on our demon spinner Andy ‘Warne’ Cossens, he soon took one to start their little collapse: 3 run-outs in 5 overs!
They eventually reached 220-6 of off their 40 overs
After a lovely tea we set out on our quest !It did not start too well as we lost 2 early wickets but James Franzen and my self came together at the crease to put on 85 for the 3rd wicket despite the best efforts of the 6“6‘ bowler who I think was using my head as a target!
We looked like we could reach our target half way through when Andy came in to bat, 21 runs in about 10 balls but he took one swing too many and got stumped! Two balls later I decided to give my wicket away on a respectable 45 and let every body else have a bat, unfortunately we lost the last 4 wickets for 10 runs and well were eventually all out for 139 of off 30 overs.
Overall we played well against a good team with some new players shining in the field!
