Friendly: Charlton Down V’s Cerne
Valley (away) 8th July 07
At last a friendly game of cricket!! We were soooooo keen that we even
turned up before Cerne did!
Once again I lost the toss and we fielded first again on a wicket that
had very little bounce. Even though the sun was shinning bright when we
started it didn’t take long for rain to start! I think Lingham was doing
him rain dance again, it only started as soon as he arrived!! It started
very well for us thought as our new boy Jimmy (James) bowled 7 solid
overs conceding only 14 runs and getting 2-3 wickets (who every filled
in my stats sheet needs to make up their mind!!). In fact that all our
bowlers bowled good spells including Rudo “two bounce” Wormgoor who only
gave away 20 for another 3 wickets which included a caught and bowled!
Our fielding was also a first class performance with Kevin Joy like a
ball magnet once again, stopping every thing that came near him!
We bowled them out on the last ball for 100!
After a lovely tea we set about chasing down the score in the sun shine
again! The two openers seemed to be ok then disaster struck as Will Silk
was bowled! He was followed closely by 3 other bats men and we were soon
12-4 after 10 overs!! Not only that it started to rain again! Eric
Bradshaw was holding our innings together with a marathon 22 overs at
the crease!!
Jimmy Mitchell came in to bat at number 8 and stayed till the end
hitting a very impressive 29 no on a pitch that was just a little bowler
friendly!
We were skittled out for 73 in 31 overs in a hard fought game but
it was ok because we got to play!!!!
Next match home to Wimborne 22nd July!
Don’t forget come to the interclub match this Sunday!
Drinks and food will be served by our resident WAGS!! |
