Puddletown Reserves versus CDCC

Monday 16th June 08

The Charlton Down Cricket Club game against Puddletown was played in cloud due to the sad news that the rabbits had won the first round in the fights at the allotments as they had taken Mr Springers Shed for ransom for free rights to cross their land.

So to the cricket and after being put in the Andy twins went out to bat and I am sure they said lets get a shed load of runs and got off to a good start.

Once they departed we were given some excellent displays of running between wickets by Mark and Adam, the first showed us how to run one short whilst falling over, then running himself out the next ball, and Adam playing a shot which probably deserved 2 runs but was in the fielders hand as he turned blind.

Mike L gave a lot of thought to defending, but having the captains words still ringing in his ears shed load of runs no dots, he could not have two dot balls in a row so that was the end of that.

What the doctor ordered came up as a sickly looking Doctor A scored a timely innings to boost the score along at the end.

Puddletown started off quite well with singles being quickly taken and some nice shorts being taken off middle stump, but were always finding it hard to get the bowling away, Mark taking a couple of wickets to put them under early pressure.

Mike Lingham decided that his part of the game should be fielding and one of two the run outs came from his strong accurate throw.

Chris R and Adam then joined in the fun both bowling well, the latter taking his first wicket with the captain taking a catch on his feet.Once Chris R had his spell with wickets, Rudo (joining us late big thanks to him as we were one short) came along and took a wicket and bowled well in his short spell, the innings finished off by Adam with his last ball.

A big thanks to Ian for being a good sport, sorry about your shed mate.
