Golden Oldie takes final wicket as the Shed is successfully opened
CDCC wrapped up a
very successful evening league season with an easy victory at the
Herrison Oval, your SAGA qualified opening bat taking the final wicket
in a devastating spell (well devastating for him as he couldn’t move his
arm the next day).
Skip reversed the
batting order but CDCC showed their strength in depth after Rich F and
Marky Marky had departed. Jesus slapped the ball through third man to
great effect and Dr McPhail, while prescribing a drink of water to
himself, played the leg side ‘get the bowler really annoyed’ flick for
four several times. Jesus 22, and the Doctor 42.
Enter Snail at
great pace who, in the space of five minutes, played a reverse sweep,
Hit a ‘Butterworthesque’ six and ran a three. He was out shortly after
all that excitement for a rapid 28.
Zarak and Jesus to
bowl, Zarak bowling with great variety (!) concedes a few, takes three
wickets and makes the most of his match fee by bowling, on average 8
ball overs.
Jesus also takes
three wickets and shows the Skip that he ought to be bowling more often.
Puddletown having no chance Skip brings on Adam – tidy bowling taking
one wicket for no runs and then to give everyone a laugh he brings on
the SAGA qualified opening bat, who last took a wicket at the Herrison
Oval in 1991, before Zarak was born.
Operating off his
short run (he would have needed to take the Herrison bus for anything
longer) he propels the ball at an even slower velocity than his run up.
Just when he was about to conk out the Puddletown batsman pops one up
for Sid to take the catch.
Off we trot to see
Mr Springer open the new shed and say a few words with a tear in his eye
about how much he enjoyed his own shed before it was nicked.
