CDCC versus ABBOTSBURY (Cup)

Tuesday 27th May 2008

Our initial toe dipping into this years cup competition saw us drawn against Abbotsbury for the 2nd year in a row, and on a dullish night (when aren't they?) we were inserted

Skip, for once, did not get a duck (or would it be a swan?) and majestically smote the opening attack to all parts of the ground for about an over and a half, before Smithy chose to out do him once again. Someone was overheard saying, some of Skip must have rubbed off on Smithy in the changing rooms... or something like that

Anyway the lusty M & H blade was put to good use again, including one of the biggest sixes he has ever scored for us... (he's now hit 2!). Cameos from Matt and Dan saw us to a respectable score of 105 off 16 overs with Smithy carrying his fat for an excellent 48.

Unfortunately that's about all the good news. Abbotsbury batted, with some fortune, and ran the score down fairly easily. This was not before Rudo, who's fielding was akin to someone playing water polo, was drafted into the attack. Ripped out the top order he did...well one of them... with a plumb lbw which he almost forgot to appeal for.

A few mishaps in the field,.... (Not me for a change) and 17 bloody wides .. again ... meant we didn't really do ourselves justice.

Anyway we can try again on Thursday....

Good to see a lot of supporters last night, and we made about £50 profit on the bar...well done Sid and Ian!!
Cheers
