CDCC versus ABBOTSBURY (League)

Thursday 29th May 2008

Round 2 of the Abbotsbury week, this time a vital League clash.

For once Skip inserted the opposition, bearing in mind our difficulty in defending a score on Tuesday.
A much better bowling performance, especially JB and Mark saw us contain Abbottsbury to 106 off their 16 overs; their key bat, Sean Ford, was unfortunately dropped 3 times; once by Greg (who was almost late turning up as he was trying to remove silicon from his hands...mmm). Impressive was the Abbotsbury running between wickets.

So we set about our challenge, but lost Smithy (who was still recovering from his innings on Tuesday) and Mark early doors. Skip and JB then set about the bowling and the 50 came up in the 7th over; sadly both perished to outstanding catches, Skip being brilliantly caught by a sweater. CDCC valiantly attempted to knock off the remaining runs, and special mention must go to Will who played an excellent cameo. Unfortunately we came up 5 runs short as we were bowled out with 4 balls to spare.

Great effort; still work to be done on our fielding, bowling and batting.
Seriously the attitude in this club is brilliant and we will start winning soon.
