Charlton Down versus Bere Regis (Cup)

Monday 15 June 09

Skip's dream of winning the cup shattered

Following our victory against Herrison Youth, we were pitted against Bere Regis in the quarter finals. This was to be the 2nd of 5 matches for CDCC in 8 days, which is a testament of how far the Club has come. CDCC field another strong side and Skip wins the toss and decides to bat.

Disaster strikes with Ed out first ball and James, Jon and Smithy falling for low scores. Skip manages to stick around for a while and ensures that both Doylie and Adam are properly run out. With great support from Sid, CDCC scrape to 102 all out.

Bere Regis are made to work hard for their runs as a result of a stunning catch from James and some very tidy bowling from Rich Fagence. Alas, CDCC cannot contain some sensible batting and Bere Regis end up winning by 8 wickets. Injuries to Jon (Broken finger) and Skip (old age) mean that it ends up a disappointing evening.

Back to the League and the prospect of an interesting game against Hazelbury on Thursday who cannot see themselves losing this season. Incentive …or what?
