Huge Hitting batters secure victory over cup holders

Our Cup adventures for 2009 saw us pitted against the holders Herrison Youth, a strong Div 1 side. So in front of a packed crowd at the Herrison Oval, Skip actually wins the toss and elects to bat. Ed and Smithy get us off to a steady start, with a 65 run partnership before Ed succumbs for 38; Smithy is then joined by James who both indulge in some spectacular hitting, with Smithy slapping 3 sixes in Gaylesque fashion, before falling in the 12^th over with the score on 89. Jon now joins the plunder and another 91 is added, so CDCC close on 180 off their 20 overs. James finishes on 69 not out which included the biggest six possibly ever seen, landing in the woods beyond the entrance gate.

Herrison Youth set off in an aggressive manner but excellent opening bowling by Rich F and Mark, keep CDCC in the hunt. James and Ed (4-9) apply the brakes and its left to Adam to finish them off with 2 wickets in 2 balls.

So into the quarter finals against Bere Regis.
